MOVE AGAINST OIL CABALS - NLC TO BUHARI

Mr. Ayuba Wabba, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, has called on the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure that the oil cabal in the country is dismantled by the incoming government.

The oil cabal, Wabba says, has always conspired to make life unbearable to the average Nigerian whenever there is a change of government.

He also urged Buhari to ensure that the problem of corruption in the oil sector is decisively addressed.

While speaking on the sidelines, Wabba made the call in an interactive session for delegates expected to attend the International Labor Convention Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
The long queues he said, at filling stations across Nigeria were deliberate and designed to make things difficult for the average Nigerian.

This cabal will always come together whenever there's a change of guard to make life unbearable for the larger society. It is deliberate, he said.

"Why is this happening at this time? We want government to address the inherent corruption in the system. Why is it that we have not experienced this in the last four years?"

"A few people in the sector have over the past years held all of us to ransom. The prolong issue of queue is deliberate.
And we can't get it right until the inherent corruption in the system is addressed and the cabal, which has constituted itself as obstacles to progress, is dislodged."

Wabba alleged that the Federal Government had failed to honour an agreement reached with the congress in 2011 to take deliberate measures to boost local refinery of crude oil in the country.
Corruption in the oil sector he said made it impossible for new refineries to be built in spite of the licenses that were issued.

Nigeria had continued on the part of fuel importation, lamented the NLC boss, because it was in the interest of the oil cabal to cling unto the importation of refined petroleum products.
