FRSC BOSS TELLS NIGERIANS - DON'T PAY MORE THAN N6,350.00 ON DRIVERS LICENCE

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Marshall Boboye Oyeyemi, said original Drivers's Licence (DL) in the country is N6,350.00 and applicants must go to any DL office of their choice for biometric capturing.

On Tuesday in Abuja, Oyeyemi said at a one-day workshop organised by the commission for members of security agencies in the country on verification procedure of DL and number plates.

Authentic licence, according to him is produced in all the licensing offices in the country and that the process is thorough and saves costs for applicants that follow it up.

"Members of the public who give money and passport size photograph to anybody in order to collect driver's licence are doing disservice to themselves.

Cost of original driver's licence is N6,350.00 and the applicant must go for biometrics at any licensing office across the country to obtain the licence.
Going through third party costs more money and produces fake licence to unsuspecting applicants, which is an offence.

The corps marshal said "This is safer and costs less compared to the ones that pay third party for driver's licence and at the end of the day, they will be apprehended for carrying fake licence."

Anyone found with a fake licence, Oyeyemi said would be prosecuted as it is a criminal offence.

He said, it is a criminal matter because the states need the revenue to develop their areas.
The FRSC boss said that banks and other agencies that required data would also be considered for subsequent workshops on the exercise.

Members of the armed forces and other security agencies in the country attended the workshop including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and the Air Force.

Others include: personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Vehicle Inspection Office.
